The Depth and Complexity framework contains research-proven strategies that will help grow all students, especially high-achieving gifted students. In this module, you will explore the Texas Performance Standards Projects curriculum and examine various strategies to help gifted students grow their knowledge and talents. Gifted children require differentiation in the classroom to meet their unique needs and ensure that they are adequately challenged. In this module, you will take a deep dive into the state requirements for gifted education and explore tools and methods for identifying gifted students. But with accurate identification, many of these students will reach their full potential and benefit from the great resources available in effective gifted programs. Often, students with advanced abilities or the potential of advanced capabilities go undiscovered in our classrooms. In this module, you will develop an understanding of what being a gifted learner is and who possesses certain characteristics and behaviors that require accommodations in the general education program. Understanding the nature and needs of gifted students empowers teachers to better meet their needs and prepare them for success. Within the course, you will find modules that must be moved through in sequential order. Upon enrollment, you will receive a program invitation email from TCEA’s learning management system that will give you access to the self-paced course. Participants can begin anytime and go at their own speed throughout the program. Understanding and Teaching Gifted Learners is a self-paced, online program. We also offer ideas and techniques based on years of experience in professional development, integrating educator feedback to always meet the needs of course participants.We share ideas and resources that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.Our courses are streamlined for efficient and lasting learning.TCEA also offers 12 hours of CPE credit for this course. Based on local district approval, you can use this course to satisfy this requirement. In this course, you will develop a deep understanding of what it means to be gifted, learn how to effectively identify students who would benefit the most from gifted services, and meet the needs of gifted students in the classroom with an array of methods to enhance instruction.Īs a bonus, this course meets the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students six (6) hours of annual professional development (19 TAC §89.2(3) and TAC §233.1).
